Scenes from...Ikebukuro
My first attempt at a photo-journal. You can judge whether or not I was successful.
I have a few ideas of how to commemorate my time in Asia, especially since I know people like and appreciate this content.
For some things, like the New Year’s celebration, it makes sense to have a full write-up. For others, like exploring different areas and cities, it is probably more beneficial to produce itineraries or photo-journals.
No matter what I decide, don’t worry, it won’t take away from the geopolitics / climate discussions).
Below is my first attempt at a ‘photo-journal,’ focusing on Ikebukuro, one area in Tokyo I explored last week. If you like this sort of photo-journal content, please let me know by hitting the like ❤️ button!

Known for its electronics district and the massive Sunshine shopping mall the district of Ikebukuro in northwest Tokyo is a feast for the eyes.
Despite the fact that I went exploring during a holiday break (Friday, January 2) when many of the shops (and universities operating in the area) were closed, there was still an interesting place well worth an afternoon stroll.
With the massive Ikebukuro station status as one of the busiest stations in Tokyo, getting to Ikebukuro itself is fairly simple. The two most popular ways if you are in central Tokyo? Just hop on the circular Yamanote JR line or the Marunouchi subway line and you are there in a jiffy!
The Yamanote line is the most useful of JR lines because even if you head in the wrong direction, eventually you will arrive at your destination!

And assuming you get on the right train, Ikebukuro is the terminus for the Marunouchi line (station at the far right in the graphic below), so just ride it to the end!

You can’t convince me these aren’t scams, you just can’t.
